Welcome warm weather!

I hope everyone is enjoying the beauty that is June. As always, we know each month brings so many things to do. We're glad you choose to spend some of your valuable time with us.

Our speakers this month will be Monica Stanley and Samantha Hanzey from Nonna’s Quilting Nook in Zanesville. These two make a great pair, get ready for a fun night! They will be giving us a look at what H&H America is like for a quilt shop to go explore new product. They will also present new products to us that they have decided to carry in the shop and why. They will also be vending that night so please bring your cash or card to shop!

There is no workshop scheduled this month, but last month's presenter, Teara Corman, will hold a class at her shop in Johnstown on Saturday June 27th 10am to 4pm on piecing projects Judy Niemeyer style. Registration is through Teara's website www.lazyJquilting.com.

We want to thank Cheryl Nash for the work she has done with the raffle quilt and preparing the quilt show. The beautiful raffle quilt is currently at Nonna's Quilting Nook for display and the show is right on track. Unfortunately, Cheryl must step back from this extra job at this time so the guild is in need of a quilt show coordinator or co-coordinators. Please let us know if you would be willing to take on this fairly short duration but intense job.

We hope to see you on the 23rd for friendship, shared knowledge, and beautiful quilts.

We do not have any birthdays for the swap in the month of June.

TREASURER’S UPDATE:

As promised last month, here's the update to where we are on actual expenses and income against the planned budget. Since we are mid-year, this is incomplete and there are some timing mismatches on paired income/expense items. I included as many items as I could and noted if there were any key details relating to an item.

Though membership dues - our biggest source of income - are lower than anticipated, the guild so far this year has more income than expenses. As you can see in the programming and workshop detail, while programming continues to be the biggest net expense, increased workshop registration is greatly helping offset the cost. Keep it up with the raffle quilt ticket sales - $190 has come in so far!

As of June 15, 2026, the bank account balance is $7,439.57.

On a personal note - I anticipate a busier year next year with a kiddo in school and likely need to step down as Treasurer in 2027 - I'm happy to provide more behind the scenes Treasurer detail for anyone possibly interested in the role, just email me! elizabeth.truex@gmail.com.

FRANKLIN COUNTY FAIR:

The deadline to enter quilts and other items in the 2026 Franklin County Fair is July 11, 2026. You can register your entries online on the Franklin County Fair website at www.fcfair.org.

Remember…you’re not limited to just quilts! You may also enter other needlework projects such as counted cross stitch, wool appliqué, bags, and quilted jackets. And don’t forget about baked goods, your infamous deviled eggs, or the chili cookoff! There is a wide a variety of arts and craft, baking, gardening and other categories to enter and show off your skills!

Also, please consider volunteering to work the information table at the show. There will be a signup sheet at the meeting to sign up. You can sign up to work with a friend and you will receive a pass to get into the fair for free! IN TOWN RETREAT:

The next In Town Retreat will be July 17 to 19 at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center, 1520 Davidson Dr. Reynoldsburg, OH. We still have a few spots available.

• Friday 530pm to 10pm ** bring dinner

• Saturday 9am to 9 pm * dinner provided

• Sunday 9 to 3pm

• Potluck for breakfast, lunch and snacks

JULY MEETING:

Our July speaker is Sarah Thomas of SARIDITTY. She will present how to confidently choose fabric for multi-color and monotone designs. Sarah shares her approach to selecting a harmonious palette that achieves design strength through color placement. She then goes on to explain how she uses color saturation and color value to make the same quilt with alternate coloration. Filled with techniques that, in many cases, let the consumers choose their own preferences to achieve their own results. It also includes instruction for basic patchwork, piecing curves, English and foundation paper piecing, and appliqué. Improve your own quilting skills by learning from a master! Sarah will be bringing items to vend

at the meeting.

Her workshop will be on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 10-4 at the Pataskala library (information and registration). The cost will be $50 for members and $60 for non-members. It will be an all-day workshop that takes different elements from her pattern book, "Rainbow Quilt Color Method," for an info-filled day of different piecing methods and techniques. Once the class concludes, you'll leave with blocks and units to continue making Eden, Ribbon Candy, and Double Dip quilts OR jump into many more of Sarah's patterns that utilize the same techniques and tricks. Sarah will provide templates for each section of the class...all you need to do is bring your choice of fabrics and basic sewing notions and your machine.

Key items to be used:

1/4" foot, suggested washable glue stick, fabric marking pen/pencil, piecing thread, suggested small iron or seam roller, cutting mat, rotary cutter (45mm or 60mm but also a 28mm *if* you have it), quilter's ruler, pressing mat.

Fabric Reqs:

• Eden — 4 Layer Cake Squares (10" square) OR 2-4 FQs

• Ribbon Candy — (4) Jelly Roll strips + (1) FQ or 1/4Yd for background

• Double Dip templates making Posey Patch pattern — (1) FQ or 6"xWOF flower center + 12"xWOF first layer petals + 18"xWOF second layer petals + (2) 12"xWOF exterior background

Do NOT pre-wash or starch your fabrics!

ACCUQUILT CLASS:

The Accuquilt class will be taught by Molly Pierce on Saturday, August 1 (information and registration).

FALL 2026 RETREAT:

August 27, 2026 - August 30,2026 - Comfort Suites, Berlin, Ohio (Registration will begin at June guild meeting.)

The cost will stay the same as for the spring retreat.

• 2 nights single $390.00

• 3 nights single $550.00

• 2 nights double $220.00

• 3 nights double $310.00

Registration forms will be available at the meeting.

Spring 2027 retreat will be held in Parkersburg, WV April 29 - May 2. More information to come.

AQS QUILT SHOW SEPTEMBER 2026:

A sign-up sheet for volunteering at the AQS quilt show will be available at our next guild meeting. Areas to volunteer include: hanging and taking down quilts at start and end of AQS show, being a monitor during the quilt show hours, helping at the sewing area and bag check areas. Be sure to take a look and sign up. Times will be finalized closer to the show.

AQS asked us to volunteer at the show in order to hang our raffle quilt there. Anyone who volunteers will receive free admission that day.

COMMON THREADS QUILT SHOW OCTOBER 2026

The guild quilt show will take place at our October guild meeting. We will present quilts as a bed turning as we have done the past couple of years. For those who are new to this, the quilts, by category, will be placed on a table and starting from top to bottom each quilt will be held up and shown while a short description is read by the quilter or the presenter. We will have someone judge the quilts during the day and provide feedback. Start thinking about those projects you would like to enter.

CHARITY QUILTS:

More kits of novelty fabric with borders will be available at June meeting. Please turn in any completed quilt tops. We are also looking for quilters for donated charity quilts. All supplies provided. No need for a long arm. Kits will also be available at the meeting.
