July 2025 Newsletter

Updated: Jul 15

How nice it is to spend these HOT days inside sewing!  Speaking of hot, our picnic/yard sale made $976! That was incredible. Thank you to everyone that helped and participated in the event. A special thank you to Carol Cornette for running the event and Catie Gynn for organizing the guild table.

COMING UP

On July 19th, Catie Gynn is teaching the Everything but the Machine Tote class round two.  I made one in the first class and really enjoy having everything handy and easy to take with me.

Our July 22nd speaker is Karla Zadnik.  It will be interesting to hear about Karla’s quilting adventures and seeing some of her incredible quilts.

In August our speaker is Linda Thielfoldt of the Quilted Goose.

Also in August, on Wednesday, August 2th, Carol Cornette will be teaching a class on the Tamarack Jacket.  See the website for more information and to sign up for the class.

Remember you have to go to the shop section to register for the classes!

HELP NEEDED

The Franklin County Fair is looking for volunteers to man the table at the quilt show, July 14- 20th. Details are on the Facebook page under the files tab and the website.  If you are able to help, contact Betsy Zimmerman (614) 354-3860 or Penelope Mishne (614) 699-0510.

Jennifer has several more kits to make incubator covers.  She has delivered nine covers and they are being used in the NICU at Children’s Hospital.  She has pictures that she might be able to share at the meeting.

Melanie Dodd and Karen Jackson are organizing a quilt drive for families in Kerrville, Texas.  If you are able to donate an unused quilt, they will be collecting them at the July and August meeting. A friend of Melanie will personally deliver them to a quilt shop in Texas that will distribute them.

IN TOWN RETREAT

The summer In Town “No Frills” Retreat is July 25th, 26th and 27th at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center.  There are still a few spaces available.  Come and sew with friends!

OUT OF TOWN FALL RETREAT

The Fall Retreat will be September 4-7, 2025 at the Berlin Resort.  Registration will open at the July 22nd meeting.  If you would like to attend but can’t make the meeting, please email: monique9muncy@gmail.com

FAT QUARTER BIRTHDAY SWAP AND RAFFLE

This month the birthday fat quarter birthday celebrations include:

Patty Deckard – grunge

Karen Clark – Tula Pink

Tina Siddle – Kaffe-like or brights

The Fat Quarter Raffle this month is Black and White prints.  Let’s have a big group of black and whites for the winner this month.

FUND RAISING

I am working on getting our guild connected with the Kroger card.  More information to follow.  Thank you Melanie Dodd for the great idea!

Thank you to Catie Gynn and Carol Cornette for donating their time to teach a class.

Start planning for the Holiday Raffle. Instead of an exchange, everyone brings an item approximately $10-$15 (can be homemade or store bought).  You will get one ticket for bringing an item then we will sell additional tickets.  It will be a raffle like our basket raffle. More information to come about the party, but start thinking about your item.

Keep cool and keep stitching!

Carol and Bev
