Happy August, I hope everyone is enjoying summer and looking forward to fall – especially the fall retreat! I know I am! Summer has been very busy with grandkids, swimming and camping, but very little sewing time. Even though I have loved every minute of summer, I am looking forward to the fall retreat and several days of sewing time!
It was great to see so many people at the July meeting. I know many of us were in awe of Karla’s many, beautiful quilts and it was so enjoyable to hear about her quilting journey. I really enjoy learning from the talented members in our guild.
There is a change for our August 26th meeting and workshop, our speaker will be Molly Todd. She will be talking about the quilts she makes based on children’s artwork. You can learn more about her passion project by visiting her website: artquiltsbymollytodd.com.
On Wednesday, the 27th. Carol Cornette will be teaching a class on making the Tamarack jacket. Go to the shopping page of the website for more information. The workshop fee will be donated to the guild as a fund raiser.
I hear that the in town retreat was a great time. Thank you, Melanie, for your work putting together these retreats.
Sunshine Committee
If you become aware of any guild member who is ill, facing surgery, or has had a death in the family, please let Karen Beckley know. Email: karensew@aol.com or text 614-246-6566, so that a card can be sent out on behalf of all of us.
Also, if you know of any reason to celebrate or receive a pat on the back such as graduation, promotion, or award, we would like to publish it in an upcoming newsletter. Please contact Karen with any celebrations.
Please leave your name and contact info so you can be contacted with any questions.
Fat Quarter Raffle and Birthday Swap
In August, we will celebrate Bev Kenney’s birthday! Please bring her FQs (grunge) to the swap table before the meeting.
If you have FQs for prior months that you need to turn in, please bring those to the table also so they can be passed out during the meeting.
The FQ raffle this month will be novelty prints. You get one raffle ticket for each FQ you bring. Let’s see if we can get a large bundle for the winner.
New Swap
Mary Hoffman is planning a new swap. I look forward to getting more information at the August meeting.
Shop Hop Chair
Due to health reasons, Nancy Mergel needs to resign her position as Shop Hop Chair. If anyone would like to take over this position please let us know. Nancy was thinking about a hop to include Calico Cupboard in Pataskala, Nonna’s in Zanesville, and Mercantile on Main in Coshocton. If someone wants to continue with this plan and contact the shops, pick a date and find a place to eat, it would be appreciated.
Board Members and Committee Chairs 2026-27
It is that time of year again. Your guild needs you!
We will officially vote on the new board in November. Please contact Carol or Bev if you are not interested in continuing your position for next year by September 1st.
Also, let us know if you are interested in assuming a position in the guild. I know we need one or two people to run for vice president/co vice president. The responsibility for that position include securing speakers for the next year and prepare to assume the president role the following year. The vice presidents will be working with in coming co- presidents Melody Dodd and Karen Jackson.
We will present the slate of officers at the October meeting and vote in November.
Happy sewing,
Carol and Bev
