OUR NEXT MEETING: TUESDAY JULY 28 AT 6:30 pm at St Catharine Catholic Church 500 S Gould Rd, Bexley. Please BRING CASH for the Raffle Basket Drawing and the 50/50 Raffle. All tickets are $1 or $5 for 6. |
Good day everyone! We hope you were all able to take advantage of the hot hot weather by staying inside and sewing. These cooler temperatures are sure welcome though!
Something else that would be very welcome would be a volunteer or volunteers to take on the quilt show. Things are slow on that front right now, but in order to organize a show we need a committee chair in place by September first.
It was so fun to see you all at the wonderful in town retreat Melanie M organized so beautifully.
Hope to see you all at guild this month with our special presenter Sarah Thomas of Saraditty Quilts and at the workshop by Sarah the 29th, or the Accuquilt workshop by our friend Molly Pierce on the 1st of August. Stay cool and stay busy,
Karen and Melanie
JULY MEETING:
Our July speaker is Sarah Thomas of SARIDITTY. She will present how to confidently
choose fabric for multi-color and monotone designs. Sarah shares her approach to selecting a harmonious palette that achieves design strength through color placement. She then goes on to explain how she uses color saturation and color value to make the same quilt with alternate coloration. Filled with techniques that, in many cases, let the consumers choose their own preferences to achieve their own results. It also includes instruction for basic patchwork, piecing curves, English and foundation paper piecing, and appliqué. Improve your own quilting skills by learning from a master! Sarah will also be vending at the guild meeting. She will accept Venmo or cash, so be prepared!!
She will also have kits for the workshop. They are $50 and contain the following:
Eden 4 different color 10” squares
Ribbon Candy 4 different color JR strips + background fabric
Posey Patch Cohesive flower colors hand selected: 5 fabric cuts for flower center, two layers petals, two backgrounds.
The book with patterns is $25. There are still openings for the workshop.
ACCUQUILT CLASS:
The Accuquilt class will be taught by Molly Pierce on Saturday, August 1. There are still openings for this class.
