Guild Retreats

We hold several guild retreats throughout the year, which offer a way for our members to get to know one another better, get away from it all, and get some traction on their quilting projects. We offer both local and out-of-town options for our current guild members.

Our in-town retreats are held in central Ohio, and out-of-town retreats (referred to as “Retreats”) are usually held in Berlin, Ohio, at the Berlin Resort. Both are incredibly popular with guild members and fill up quite quickly.

Here are a few more details about the two types of retreats we hold:

In-Town Retreat

Many members have family obligations that prevent them from traveling. As the name suggests, this retreat is held in town, that is, in or near Columbus. The purpose of the in-town retreat is to allow people to enjoy extended sewing time with friends, and still get home each night to let the dog out, check on the family, and sleep in one’s own bed.

As with most every quilting-related event, there will be good food, and great company. Participants bring their own projects, sewing machine, and personal sewing supplies. The retreat committee provides cutting mats, irons, and lots and lots of food, as well as door prizes. Cost is nominal since no hotel is involved.

Retreat

Twice a year – in Spring and in Fall – the Guild hosts a retreat in Amish country. Usually held in Berlin, Ohio, a retreat will often fill-up the first night of registration. These popular events are three days, two nights of sewing, eating, laughing, and eating, laughing, sewing. There is often a “make & take” small project offered (such as a pin cushion, fabric box, thread catcher, etc.), and a pizza dinner. If you have not been on a quilting retreat, you should give it a try. You will learn lots just by having a chance to see everyone’s projects.

Participants bring their own projects, sewing machine, and personal sewing supplies. The retreat committee provides cutting mats and irons. Most people bring a snack to share. Costs are reasonable for two nights in a hotel with breakfast.
